Sorry everybody for dropping the ball about posting the time and place of Cassie's recital but tis the season to be very busy. That being said I will try and get Miguel to post a small portion of the play and recital so you can get a hint of what they were like.

The fourth grade will be putting on the Christmas play this Thursday at 6:30 at the elementary school cafeteria. I will try and film it so everyone can see it at Christmas. I will also film Cassie as well.

Caryl

I know that this blog is mostly all about the kids, but this entry is all about... ME. Last week I got associate of the week and then this week I found out that I got associate of the month for October. So that said... Yeah me!!!! So now I'm in the running for associate of the year. Not that I'm being pessimistic but I doubt I'll get that only because overnights usually don't just because there are more day crew than night crew and the shifts tend to vote for their own. But you can still wish me luck.

Cassie and student council

Cassie and the student council of Ingram Middle School are selling poinsettias. They are $10.50 each for an 5 inch pot. If anyone wants one let me know. The colors are red and red and white. The sale is thru the 20th of this month. I don't know when they will come in but I know it will be before Christmas break. I didn't know this until I read the bylaws but she is the one who is going to have to sign the invoices for anything they get in. I think that is a big responsibility for her and I think she will do very well in her job as treasurer.
She and Brendan are both going to be in UIL music memory. She signed up and he was picked by his music teacher. They both love music and I think they will do well. The only difficulty I see is that the music is classical and neither have really listen to that much. Cassie does recognize one song right off the bat because it is from the Nutcracker.

Matt and Cross Country

Football season is over and so is cross country. The cross country team did fair better than football the boys team received second in district and went on to run at Brooks city base for regionals. They did not place well enough to go to state but they all ran very well. Ingram does have one girl Janel Campbell who will be running at the state competition. She ran 2 miles in 12 minutes and 10 seconds.

Matt and football

Friday night's football game is the last one of Matt's career so if you can make it please do so. It is a home game. If you need tickets call me and I can get them for you. They are $5 pregame and $6 at the gate. You don't save a whole lot but a dollar is a dollar. Remember Ingram colors are red and black and the game starts at 7:30 pm. We sit on the west side of the field and near the band out of habit because of ROTC in high school for me and Miguel and because we do have a future band geek in our house. I hope to see all of you there. Go Warriors!!!

Matthew

Matthew recieved several mums for homecoming last week and here finally are the pictures of them.

Cassie

For anyone who has not found out yet Cassie is now the student council treasurer for Ingram Middle School. She ran against two other people. She had to give a speech in front of the school and she made two posters and posted them by the doors to the building and the bathrooms. (She got them coming and going). She also handed out play money that we wrote vote for Cassie Silva on. We are very proud of her for wanting to be so involved in school . Speaking of her involvement in school band is going very well and she will be having a Christmas concert in December.

First six weeks report

Well the first six weeks have come and gone and everyone has done very well on their report cards. Cassie is in band as you all know and has received her Aunt Rubye's clarinet and it is as good as new and it actually cost us half what was estimated. Football season is more than half and homecoming is next week and if anyone wants to get Matt a mum you can send it to our home address. E-mail me and I will send it to you. Brendan is doing great in fourth grade in fact when we went for his parent teacher conference Ms. Witt said how all the teachers were comenting on how much he has matured over the summer and how well behaved he has been in all of thier classes. Miguel and I think that the fact he changes classes might have something to do with that. It doesn't give him a chance to get bored.
I also want to give everyone an update on Leonard since he is no longer in school. He has been working at McDonold's and saving his money. He plans to go to the ACCD satelite that is up here in the spring.

Matt and football

I know that coming up here for a football game might be hard for some of you but it would mean the world to Matt if as many of you that can, could come for homecoming or a the very least the last game of his career. They have lost every game they have played for the last four years but they keep trying so the more support they can get the better. I know that I've joked in the past about lighting candles and such, but if you can keep these young men in your prayers I would really appreciate it. They have put in some great efforts but being such a small school that has to face schools that are about twice their size has been difficult to say the least. I know that they will continue to try and win so lets continue our support of them. As far as I'm concerned they are all winners because they keep trying and they face the monday morning quarterbacks every week with pride in what they doing and knowing that those who criticize them and their efforts don't have the guts to walk in their shoes. Thanks for all your support.

Matthew's Gaduation

If you have been watching the ticker to when Matt graduates you might have noticed that the numbers have just gotten higher instead of lower. That is because they have changed the date of graduation from the 21st of May to the 28th of May next year. This is all due to the three semester school year.

School Update

I know that it's only the third week of school but I figured I should let everyone know what is going on at IES, IMS and Tom Moore High Schools. Brendan is doing well in fourth grade he has adjusted well being the only one in elementary school. He has been getting really good grades and his conduct has been outstanding. Cassie is now in the band and out of TAKS reading which she is very happy about. We went to the Middle School open house on Tuesday and meet all of her teachers. They all said she was a pleasure to have in class and some of them had the older boys when they were in high school and did not make the connection that she was their sister. Matt has been released to play football and can't wait till he can get out there and play. The last game was called at half due ton o lighting and it will not count. I have been updating the scores on the blog so if you miss the score on TV. or the paper I will have it up on Saturday.

The start of school

Monday was the beginning of the end for Matt. His senior year has finally arrived. He has not been able to play football or run cross country for the last couple of weeks due to a separated shoulder. This happened on the day he had to take his senior pictures. If you wish to see the proof e-mail me and I will get you the info so you can see them. Hopefully the doctor will clear him soon so he can play and get back to running. First game is Friday in Natalia. There will only be 4 home games this year. I will be posting his schedule so if he is playing some where near you maybe you can go see them win one.(finger crossed and candles lit)lol I say that since they are tied with S.A. Memorial for the worst record in the state of Texas at 33 consecutive losses. Cassie has to wait a week before starting band if they let her get out of TAKS reading. She can't wait to start that since she will be playing her Aunt Rubye's clarinet. It needed a little work but the cost of that compared to a new or even used is definitely worth it. Brendan may not be big man on campus at the elementary school but I think him being by himself over there is a great thing. he doesn't have his big sister trying to take care of things for him he has to step up and do it himself.

The Kids and School

In less than one week the kids will be going back to school. Matthew will be a senior and will be playing football and running cross country. Cassie starts middle school and since she passed TAKS she will be starting band. Brendan is going into the fourth grade and will be at the elementary school all by himself. Leonard will be attending the ACCD satellite up here for at least one semester.

Cassie and the TAKS reading test

As you all know Cassie had to go to summer school for the TAKS reading test. She took the test on July 1. We were told that the school would call with the results in two weeks. True to their word the school called today to give us the results. The results are... she... (drum roll please!) ...PASSED!!!!! She is spending the week at her Silva grandparents and when I called her with the news her joy and relief came through the phone. I did play a little trick on her I was pretty calm and probably seem serious to her. I'm sure she thought she didn't pass till I dropped the bomb and told her she did. She screamed into the phone "What?" and then she said she plans to frame it and hang it in her room. She's not happy or anything? Now I have to get her Aunt Rubye's clarinet fixed she can use it for band.

Summer update

Well summer is in full swing here in Ingram. Leonard has taken a week off from work to spend time in S.A. at his Silva Grandparents. Matt is working and of course running across the worlds of warcraft. Cassie is doing well in TAKS summer school and we all know that this time she will pass her reading test. She will be starting a drama camp next week it will last for 2 weeks with a performance on Friday June 26, 2009.(more information to follow) Brendan is just hanging out at the house and the shop. He will be going to a basketball camp the week of the 22-26. Cassie will be going to dream camp in August. Her teachers nominated her for attendance to this camp all she had to do was write an essay on why she should be picked.

My Vacation

Well I had to postpone my vacation till July do to the fact that Cassie has to attend summer school for Taks reading. Pass or fail she will be placed in the 6Th grade due to how well her grades are but she will have to give up her elective choice of band because she will have to take a Taks reading class, but I have every confidence in her that she will pass this time. She is also going to attend a drama camp for two weeks at the end of June and she will be going to DreamKamp in August. She also want to participate in a volleyball camp in July. Brendan has once again made the A honor roll that is the third time in a row this year. Before that if you are keeping up with such things he made the A-B honor roll. He and Cassie both received the National Physical Fitness award and perfect attendance. Brendan plans to attend a Basketball camp at the end of June. The older two are working this summer and Matt has his summer training for cross country.

School is out!!!!

Tony and Matt are out for the summer. Ingram has a flex schedule for the High School. If you passed taks, all subjects and have good attendance you don't have to go to school for the last two weeks. Tony just has to be there next Friday for graduation practice and graduation of course. Today they had their award ceremony and Tony got an award for outstanding Art IV student. (pic will follow) Cassie will be graduating on Thursday the 28 and she and her dad will be going to Fiesta Texas on Friday.
On another note Tony took a picture a the prom with Katie Pado, a friend of the family. We will try and get it on the blog for all to see if we can't it will be on display at the dinner following Confirmation and we will bring it down to S.A. the next time we come. He says he had a good time and he danced. I know that might sound silly to some but remember all of this was way out of his comfort zone.

Cassie & Tony's art

Basketball Awards for Brendan

Everyone who played got one of these.

The Big Heart award.
Only one player per division was choosen,
and it was Brendan!

This is their 3rd place award.

He is very humble.

They finished with a 4 wins and 4 losses for the season, and they won the Friday night game, but lost both games on Saturday. The last game was close, the lost by one point. I(Miguel) talk with the coach and he can't wait for next year. If they are allowed to pick their players, Brendan is top on his list.
Later.

8th Annual Hill country Art Survey

Leonard entered a photo in the 8th annual hill country Art survey. It was picked from more than 208 entries. This was the first time he had entered a photo in the photo manipulation. He got second place and received a check for $50. It will be on display for the next month at Schreiner University in the sudent activity center. if anyone is in the neighborhood it is on the second floor and you need to turn right as you come up the stairs then take a left and it is the last one on the left. His name is next to his photo. We will take a picture of him with his photo in the next couple of days and hope to get the photo when it has been taken off display. His picture may also be in the Kerrville daily Times newspaper with the other winners.

Cassie and D.I.

Cassie went and competed in destination imagination competition Saturday. This was the first time Ingram elementary had ever done this. They only had one team and they placed 6th. She received a ribbon for competing as well as a pin her teacher Mr. Craig. They also got a t-shirt for the competition.

Brendan and basketball

Brendan's team is now 4-3. They won their last game 27-24. He scored 3 points. He seems to be the only one who ever has to make free throws and he is getting pretty good at them too. He has one more game left before the tournament this coming weekend.

Leonard

It is official as of 12:55pm Friday Leonard turned 18!!!!!! I am surprised at how fast time flies. I'm not all emotional about it or anything. I'm just so proud of the young man he has become. He is doing well in school, has a job and has a photo in an art exhibit. It is of a wet floor sign and it was modified by computer. His picture was picked out of hundreds that were entered. We will be going to the showing on Sunday at Schreiner University. I hope we can put it on the blog so all can see it. If we can't I will try to bring it down the next time I go to S.A.

Basketball update

The Gators are now 2-3. They lost the last game 38-6. Brendan didn't score again but once again he got fouled and had to shot free throws which he missed again. We are going to mark a place at home for the free throw line so he can practice them.

Basketball updates

As I recently was told by a family member who shall remain nameless(Rubye) I have forgoten to update everyone on Brendan and basketball. Brendan has played in 4 games and his team's record is 2-2. They lost the first 2 and won the last 2. The last game they won 18-14. Brendan didn't score in the game. He did get fouled and got two free throws which he missed, but since they don't get fouled that much they don't really practice such things. His next game is monday because the school will be having Math & Science night on tuesday. He will be playing in a tourament March 6 & 7.
